Day Sixteen // Best Cut Scenes

Hey guys!
Today is day 16 of my 30 day blogging challenge, where I'm going to be tackling a gaming challenge I found a few weeks ago that I thought looked interesting. In my blog summarising this, I left a photo of the questions, in case anyone wanted to do it, but I'll also copy the question I'm answering into my post every day too.
Sometimes, these posts may contain spoilers for a game - when that happens, I'll warn you before I answer the question, so you can choose whether or not to read on!

Today's question is - which game has the best cut scenes?
I'm not going to go into too much story detail on this blog, so it probably won't be considered spoilers.

First off, we have the cut scenes in Fire Emblem Awakening. As I said in another blog, the cut scenes (and in-between dialogue to explain the story, etc) in this game are in a more anime style, whereas the actual game play (battles, the map, etc) is more like a shrunk down, more computer generated version (I can't think of the right words to describe it properly, argh), and I like the mix of styles. The cut scenes in this game are beautifully animated, and the placement of them is also perfect - however, I feel like there could have been a few more cut scenes, and a few less text based scenes, purely because I loved the cut scenes so much and would have liked to see more (but that's probably just me being greedy because the game is amazing as it is).
However, purely because of the story and the beautifully detailed cut scenes, the prize in his category would have to go to Xenoblade Chronicles. The cut scenes in this game are almost like a movie - they're perfectly placed to make the most of the story, they're not too long or too short, and they just fit in so well. There's a mixture of humorous ones and poignant ones, and they all just pull the game together so perfectly - there's no bad cut scenes at all, although some will leave you confused - but everything gets explained at the end of the game, don't worry! I could watch the cut scenes of this game all day...

Day Fifteen // A Screenshot From A Game You're Playing

Hey guys!
Today is day 15 of my 30 day blogging challenge, where I'm going to be tackling a gaming challenge I found a few weeks ago that I thought looked interesting. In my blog summarising this, I left a photo of the questions, in case anyone wanted to do it, but I'll also copy the question I'm answering into my post every day too.

Today's question is - post a screenshot from the game you're currently playing (not really a question but whatever)

At the moment, I am playing - and loving - Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer! I actually wrote a blog about it the other day, if you're interested, so I won't say too much now but here's a couple of screenshots!

Day Fourteen // Current Gaming Wallpaper

Hey guys!
Today is day 14 of my 30 day blogging challenge, where I'm going to be tackling a gaming challenge I found a few weeks ago that I thought looked interesting.

Today's question is -  what is your current/most recent gaming wallpaper?

I don't really have any gaming wallpapers on my phone or laptop, so I'm going to post the themes I have on my 3DS and New 3DS instead, as they're both game themed!
New 3DS
This is on the top screen, and on the bottom screen there's a Monado, and the Monado art symbol changes as you scroll across the screen. Also, the music from Gaur Plain plays.

Old 3DS
This is on the top screen, and on the bottom screen there's items from Kirby games. Also, the song Gourmet Race plays.

Day Thirteen // Game Played 5 Times Or More

Hey guys!
Today is day 13 of my 30 day blogging challenge, where I'm going to be tackling a gaming challenge I found a few weeks ago that I thought looked interesting.

Today's question is -  what game have you played more than five times?

Before I answer, I'm going to guess that it means a game I've completed 5 times or more, not just one that I've booted up and played 5 or more times, because if it was the latter I'd have to list pretty much every single game I've ever played and that is a mission and a half! So I'm going to go with games I've either completed or come close to finishing.
I went through a phase of selling games when I'd completed them a few times and no longer enjoyed playing them - and sometimes I regretted it after, when it'd been a few years and I fancied playing again for nostalgic reasons - but I haven't done that in a while.

Kirby - Mouse Attack.
I played this game SO MANY TIMES because I loved it so much, and at first it never got old. There's only so many games you can play a game without getting bored, however, and I think I completed it at least 5 times over the course of a few years before I decided to get rid of it. This is pretty much the only game I regret selling.

Professor Layton - all but The Curious Village and The Mysterious Mask.
I loved the Professor Layton games when I first played them, and I enjoyed spending ages working out the puzzles I didn't know - and feeling smug when I could get them right straight away or with minimum effort. However, after completing them a few times, I found the stories got a bit stale, and I remembered the answers to a lot of the puzzles, so it wasn't challenging for me any more, so again, I had a game clear out and I sold them.

Pokemon.
I adore Pokemon. I've played and owned pretty much every single Pokemon game in my lifetime, and I play them a lot because, for me, they're games that I never get sick of. Sure, I take a break from them sometimes - I'm currently replaying Pokemon Y and am partway through Pokemon Omega Ruby for the first time - but I will always go back to Pokemon games because I love them and probably always will. So, over the course of my life, I've probably played at least one Pokemon game at least 5 times!

I'm going to leave it here for now, otherwise we'll end up with a list the length of me, but I pretty much play my games to death, haha, so most of the games I own, I will have completed at least once or twice (apart from games with no end, of course, like Animal Crossing, but I play that most days, so have booted it up well over 5 times)

Day Twelve // A Game Everyone Should Play

Hey guys!
Today is day 12 of my 30 day blogging challenge, where I'm going to be tackling a gaming challenge I found a few weeks ago that I thought looked interesting.

Today's question is -  what is a game that everyone should play?

This was probably one of the hardest questions to answer, for me - there's a LOT of games I've played and recommended to people over the years, and narrowing it down was a pretty hard choice. In the end, I decided to choose a game my brother recommended to me, and one I'm recommending that I stumbled across myself.

The Legend Of Zelda - Ocarina Of Time.
I cannot say enough good things about this game! I didn't used to like playing it when I was younger - I preferred games that didn't really have much of a story, especially one that's as complex as this - but, when Nintendo remade it for the Nintendo 3DS, my brother persuaded me to play through it properly, and I ended up really liking it - a lot more than I was expecting to! I knew how it ended and most of what happened along the way, through years of watching him play, but I'd never done any of the levels, so it was nice completing a Zelda game by myself - it felt like a massive accomplishment for me.

Fire Emblem Awakening.
I first stumbled across this when I was browsing YouTube for Let's Plays to watch. Someone on Twitter had recommended it to me when I was asking for some new games to play, and I was intrigued, so I looked into it a bit more. It helps that there was a demo for it on the Nintendo eShop, so I downloaded it and you can play the first couple of levels of the game (you're limited to playing it 10 times altogether, however.) I liked it so much that I decided to buy the full copy, and I still think it was one of the best gaming decisions I ever made! I love how the cut scenes are in a more anime style, but the actual game play is more traditional gaming. Plus, the storyline is amazing, and I know some people don't like the fact you can pair up characters and marry them (some even call it Shipping - The Video Game) but I think it's a nice feature, plus you can have children coming back from the future when certain characters get paired up, so it's well worth it.

I feel like I need an honourable mention in this category, and that has to go to Xenoblade Chronicles - I feel like I've mentioned it a lot in these blogs, and probably will continue to do so, but it's definitely an RPG that everyone should experience playing at least once in their lifetime.

Day Eleven // Gaming System Of Choice

Hey guys!
Today is day 11 of my 30 day blogging challenge, where I'm going to be tackling a gaming challenge I found a few weeks ago that I thought looked interesting.

Today's question is - what is your gaming system of choice?

Okay, so I've grown up around Nintendo consoles - they're pretty much the only consoles we've ever owned, although I did have a Playstation at one point - so, naturally, it's going to be a Nintendo console!

If we're talking about home consoles, then I think I'm going to go with the Wii U - for starters, there's a load of amazing games for it, and the Nintendo eShop also has so many amazing games from previous consoles - including Super Mario 64 and Donkey Kong 64! The game pad is really easy to use too - plus, you can choose to play games on the touchscreen on the controller, so if someone wants to watch something on the TV, you can flip over to the game pad and keep playing while they watch TV!

If we're talking about handheld consoles, then the prize definitely goes to the Nintendo 3DS! I have both an older version, and the newest version - I'd dropped my old one a few too many times and the shoulder pads don't work properly any more, plus the touch screen is a bit past it in places too - and it's definitely my favourite console! Plus, it helps that most of the games I like the most are for it. There's currently only one game that's exclusive to the new 3DS, so you can still play all your old games on it, and if you get the normal size and not the XL (the new one) you can also change the cover plates, which makes it more customisable! I'd definitely recommend getting one if you like games like Super Smash Bros, Pokemon and Zelda. Also, if you keep the system on standby and have it in your bag or pocket when you're out, you get play coins - 1 per 100 steps you do, but you can only get up to 10 a day - and if other people have theirs too, you can pass them, and you can play mini games with them!

Day Ten // Best Game Play

Hey guys!
Today is day 10 of my 30 day blogging challenge, where I'm going to be tackling a gaming challenge I found a few weeks ago that I thought looked interesting.

Today's question is - what game do you think has the best game play?

I really like the game play of The Legend Of Zelda - Ocarina Of Time.

I know it's a game which has been around for quite a while now, as it came out when I was little (I can't remember exactly when) but I know it was when both my grandads were alive - I know this because we used to go up North to see one of them, and when we were up there once, my brother kept hiring Ocarina Of Time from a shop up there and he got pretty far in the week we were there.

Anyway, enough back story!

The controls are smooth and they handle pretty well - the reaction on screen happens pretty much instantly, there's no lagging or anything like that. It's also really easy to target your enemies and battle in real time - you don't have to wait ages for a battle to begin. This is all vital, as it's a fairly big world, so you need to be able to have quick control reactions for a lot of it - this can be especially essential in the temples later on in the game.
You can only jump automatically as and when you need to, so unlike other games, you can't jump by pressing buttons - however, in this game, I actually quite like this feature. I like how easy it is to assign items to a button, and how easy it is to find everything on the menu.
